Lisburn Golf Physiotherapy
Iain Getty has been working with both amateur and professional golfers in Northern Ireland over the past 21 years.
As a keen golfer himself, he recognises the benefits of keeping and getting fit for golf.
Here are two questions:
QUESTION 1
How many times do you go to your local professional for help with your game – he watches your swing – adjusts your grip, stance or swing plane and hey presto, you strike the ball better! This new found technique you take to the course and quite often within a few holes the old problems return.
QUESTION 2
Can you turn your head to look over your left shoulder – does it feel tight or painful? If so, your backswing will be restricted. Why? – your golf swing requires your body to rotate around a fixed neck – if your neck is restricted your body will naturally compensate by swaying and hinging, resulting in poor ball striking and quite often injury. Likewise, if your neck is stiff looking over your right shoulder, this will result in restriction of your follow through.
